It’s no secret that moms are the best at what they do to provide for us. But in this, forget that noise, this is Bad Moms we’re talking about! Stress and overworking Amy (Mila Kunis) is fed up with the responsibilities that a mother does. So she along with the stay at home mom (Kiki) Kristen Bell and single mom (Carla) Kathryn Hahn, they do whatever they want and to be free-spirited to do whatever they want.
Sometimes with a summer comedy, it needs to be really good and hopefully become a surprise. The trailers weren’t that funny thinking this could be a watchable comedy that’s totally gonna hit with mothers. Since they wrote the hilarious The Hangover, writers/ directors Jon Lucas and Scott Moore honestly can’t do comedy well because this wasn’t good at all. But these are also the guys who did the awful teen comedy 21 & Over.
Don’t be fooled because they wrote The Hangover. Granted, this is a great cast of females right here, but what they had to deliver didn’t work and they’ve done better comedies than this. Kunis, Bell, and Hahn did look like they had fun. None of them wasn’t the scene stealer. For a premise like this, there should’ve been laugh out loud moments but it never ceased to occur and would feel forced. Dumb montages happen that’s there to make it fun, and it failed. They decided to be “bad moms” in under a minute. No uplifting speech to get excited, it justs “let’s do it”.
There has probably about two chuckle-worthy moments and both came from Hahn. Even for the writing, the stuff that these women are saying is unbelievable. Because, maybe, I don’t even think most women don’t talk like that. And this was written by two men. Pretty stupid.
It’s always cool to see mothers being able to take the time to be mellow and this sets a bad example in a kind of over-the-top way. Maybe this movie’s goal was to be something like Old School but ended up being like Sisters. And honestly, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is funnier than this.
This isn’t breaking new grounds for comedies as it’s formulaic and the execution doesn’t pay off. As for someone who’s a man, this isn’t relatable, of course. But, this is a comedy that’s clearly geared towards a mom’s type of target audience.
Bad Moms wasn’t really funny hilarious. This has a talented female cast that’s totally wasted on this unfunny script that wasn’t raunchy.
