The Divergent Series: Allegiant Review

Gotta keep reminding myself that this isn’t a retread of The Hunger Games or Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. Nope. Does nothing. No other Young Adult novel turned movie shouldn’t be split into two movies because we have to indulge more of this crap later. Allegiant offers nothing refreshing into the series and wasn’t even near an improvement of 2014’s Divergent or 2015’s Insurgent. The acting is dull, the directing and writing has no coherence at all, and it tries to interest us leading into the next movie. Which it won’t. It’s so boring and uninteresting that even if a character we’re supposed to latch on to doesn’t matter. It even does through the same patterns as the last movie did making this more unpleasant. Personally, I feel bad for Shailene Woodley for being in these movies. She’s a great actress who doesn’t belong in this franchise that’s gladly dying down soon.

Allegiant proves why this Divergent Series keeps getting worse. Just horribly acted and a terrible script.

Grade: D-
